IID 2009

IID 2009 semakin dekat, dan kali ini UiTM menempa sejarah kali IID kali ini disertai dengan 407 penyertaan. Saya dan rakan-rakan di RMI telah menyediakan kelengkapan bagi melicinkan perjalanan IID 2009. IID 2009 merupakan IID yang ke 4 bagi saya dan Intan. Saya merasakan IID semakin meriah dan semakin mencabar. Dahulu tahun 2006, tak lebih daripada 200 produk yang dipertandingkan. Pemenang pingat perak pada masa itu masih berpeluang untuk dipilih bagi menyertai pertandingan diperingkat kebangsaan. Tahun 2008 berubah, sedikit, dan hanya pemenang pingat emas yang akan di peringkat pertandingan kebangsaan. Tahun 2009 rasanya lebih mencabar kerana jumlah pertandingan meningkat dari 343 ke 407!. Terima kasih di atas sokongan yang diberikan, dan InsyaAllah dengan usaha ini akan meningkatkan daya rekacipta serta penyelidikan dikalangan staf UiTM.

International Journal of Management in Education (IJMIE, ISSN 1750-385X www.inderscience.com/ijmie)

· The IJMIE is listed in both Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Management www.cabells.com and Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Educational Psychology and Administration www.cabells.com, and is accepted in many universities for credit towards tenure and promotion.

· The IJMIE strives to provide constructive and developmental reviews to authors within approximately two months. To accomplish this objective, the IJMIE maintains a rapid electronic submission, review and publication process. On average, the double-blind review process for the IJMIE takes 6-8 weeks for an initial submission. The review process is designed to promote expedited reviews, developmental feedback, and a service culture of professionalism and collegiality.

· In the past 12 months, the IJMIE received more than 150 manuscripts. The current acceptance rate is 18%.

The IJMIE aims to publish papers, which analyze all aspects of international education, researchers and professionals from education have the opportunity to discuss the most demanding issues regarding the development and leadership of education at all levels and in all areas of education management. Manuscripts should be double-spaced and paginated throughout. All paper submissions must be submitted via email attachment in one single MS Word format file (any other format will not be processed) to me together with a brief biosketch, 1‑10 keywords and an abstract of approximately 50 words. The first page of the manuscript should contain the following information: title, name and affiliation of the author(s), address, and email address for each of the author(s). Please check our web site at www.inderscience.com/ijmie concerning the format, style, and guide to authors. Submitted papers will receive an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief before they are entered into the double-blind review process. Important screening criteria include fit with the mission of IJMIE, significance of the research, and likelihood of moving forward acceptance in two rounds of review. Each paper submitted will be subject to high standards of double-blind review procedures at the IJMIE.

Panduan Menulis Artikel

Bila kita dilantik sebagai editorial review board, kita akan menerima banyak artikel untuk disemak. Kadang-kadang dalam satu hari ada dua-tiga artikel untuk diperiksa. Masa yang diperuntukan bagi tujuan penyemakan tidak sama. Ada 2 minggu, 1 bulan dan kadang-kala sampai 1 bulan setengah. Terdapat beberapa formula dalam menyemak artikel-artikel ini. Pertama, lihat pada tajuk kertas. Kedua, lihat pada abstract. Kalau kedua-duanya 'ada masalah', maka reviewer dah mula standby untuk bagi comment, samada accept with major revision atau rejection, revise, re-submit. Kebanyakkan penulis yang biasa menulis dalam jurnal terkemuka tidak mempunyai masalah dalam menulis artikel. Mereka sudah tahu bagaimana untuk menarik perhatian reviewer. Saya ada beberapa tips ringkas bagi menulis artikel. InsyaAllah kita semua akan dapat menerbitkan artikel kelak. Begini...Tajuk yang diberikan perlulah ringkas, dan jika sekali baca sahaja dah faham maksud artikel tersebut. Kalau, dua-tiga kali baca, masih tak berapa clear, so dah ada masalah dah! Kedua, dalam abstract perlu ada beberapa items penting yang perlu dimasukkan. Diantaranya;

• purpose of study
• research methodology
• findings
• research limitations
• practical implications
• originality/values
• keywords, not more than 5 keywords.

Begitullah serba-sedikit panduan untuk menulis artikel dalam jurnal terkemuka. Perlu diingatkan bahawa penulisan dalam buku dan thesis tidak sama dengan penulisan artikel. Oleh itu kita perlu belajar bagaimana untuk menarik perhatian reviewer, dan artikel kita diterima untuk penerbitan. Selamat menulis...

Fairuz Zakaria-future millionnaire from Permatang Pauh!

Dulu, masa di sekolah menengah memang banyak menyimpan beberapa kenangan, ada manis dan ada yang kurang gula. Sekarang ni, sudah hampir 15 tahun berlalu. Tahun 1990, saya berpindah dari Kuala Lumpur ke Butterworth, Pulau Pinang. Balik kampung sebab abah dah pencen. Masa itu saya masih dalam tingkatan 3. Di Kuala Lumpur saya belajar di Sekolah Aminuddin Baki. Di Pulau Pinang, saya belajar di Sekolah Menengah Datuk Onn, Butterworth. Sekolah ini merupakan sekolah tradisi keluarga sebelah emak. Boleh dikatakan semua emak dan bapa saudara saya belajar di sekolah ini. Bila pindah tempat baru mesti dapat rakan sekolah baru. Dalam ramai-ramai, hanya Rizaimy dan Fairuz yang rapat dengan saya. Selepas SPM masing-masing bawa haluan. Kadang-kala berjumpa waktu menyambut aidil fitri. Rumah kami agak jauh, Rizaimy di Teluk Air Tawar, Fairuz di Permatang Puah, manakala saya di Sungai Lokan. Selepas 15 tahun berlalu, saya terjumpa Rizaimy di UiTM. Dia joint UiTM Kedah. Fairuz pula terus menghilangkan diri. Tak jumpa langsung. Hari ini saya saja taipkan nama Fairuz Zakaria dalam search eg., dan terjumpa sebuah syarikat nama: Fairuz Zakaria Art & Design http://www.fairuzzakaria.com/staf/. Kagum-kagum. Fairuz buka syarikat sendiri. Sekarang ini beliau dah ada 15 orang pekerja. Bila tengok gambar dia, sudah bermisai dan berjambang...kalau bukan nama Fairuz Zakaria sudah tentu saya tidak berapa cam sangat. Hah! ada satu soalan cepu emas, masih solo ko? InsyaAllah, nanti kalau saya balik Penang, saya singgah rumah Fairuz dan Rizaimy...kenangan...kenangan.

The International Journal of Sustainable Economy aims to address the exposed sustainability issues in the field of economic theory and analysis. Academic Conference

Pagi tadi saya ke konferensi akademik yang diadakan di Dewan Seri Budiman (DSB) UiTM Shah Alam. Saya pergi ke sana selepas mendapat panggilan daripada Intan. Bila tiba di DSB, dah ramai peserta yang masuk dewan. Ada juga yang masih di luar dewan. Mungkin mengambil angin agaknya. Majlis diteruskan dengan keynote section oleh Director General, Prof. Dato' Dr. Radin. Ulasan yang diberikan oleh beliau amat baik dan jelas. Beliau mengambil masa hampir 1 jam. Dengan penjelasan daripada DG, maka pensyarah serba sedikit akan dapat mengetahui arah tujuan pendidikan pengajian di Malaysia. Esok konferensi akademik akan disambung...rasanya nak joint sekali.

Research Methodology di UiTM Melaka

AlhamduLillah, bengkel PRA-PTK di UiTM Melaka, selamat disempurnakan. Kumpulan pertama yang diketua oleh Prof. Dr. Azni mengadakan bengkel pada 10-11 Disember 2008. Dalam bengkel ini peserta didedahkan dengan beberapa input penting seperti maklumat terkini penyelidikan di UiTM, geran penyelidikan, kaedah penyelidikan dan cara-cara mengisi borang permohonan penyelidikan FRGS dan E-Science. Saya ditugaskan untuk menerangkan research methodology kepada peserta. Ada seorang peserta tu macam pernah tengok. Tapi di mana ye? Bila check, rupanya member masa induksi tahun 2002. Shabuddin... AlhamduLillah, jumpa juga dengan kawan-kawan lama. Dulu masa di UiTM Pahang, saya juga terperasan seorang pensyarah. Tapi tak ingat kat mana jumpa. Bila balik ke rumah saya check gambar induksi. Sah! Member induksi dulu. Sorry le tak sempat tegur...Di Melaka kami semua tinggal di salah sebuah hotel 4 bintang. Selesa sangat, kena pula dengan pemandangan yang menarik. Sempat juga kami makan ikan bakar di Serkam Pantai. Selepas di UiTM Melaka, kumpulan Prof. Dr. Azni akan ke utara pula.
