Kempen Menulis Artikel dalam Jurnal Berimpak Tinggi

Matlamat UiTM untuk menjadi universiti penyelidikan akan tercapai jika kita mempunyai 3,000 artikel yang diterbitkan dalam jurnal bertinggi, iaitu jurnal yang tersenarai dalam Thomson Reuters ISI dan Scopus. Dengan jumlah pensyarah seramai 8,000 orang, saya yakin UiTM mampu berbuat demikian. Oleh yang demikian, saya mengajak rakan-rakan untuk terus aktif menulis dalam jurnal berimpak tinggi. Kepada rakan-rakan yang sedang belajar di peringkat PhD, ini merupakan peluang keemasan anda untuk menulis bersama supervisor masing-masing. Saya percaya supervisor anda merupakan orang yang bukan calang-calang dan mampu menerbitkan beberapa buah artikel dalam jurnal berimpak tinggi. Saya mendoakan sasaran akan tercapai dalam masa terdekat, dan InsyaAllah UiTM akan mencapai taraf universiti penyelidikan dalam tahun ini. Sokongan padu anda amat dihargai.

Pemegang PhD

Phd, itulah yang kerap diperbualkan oleh pensyarah IPT. Berapa sebenarya jumlah pensyarah yang mempunyai PhD di UiTM? Buat masa sekarang, kalau dicampur dengan semua jumlah pensyarah di Shah Alam dan cawangan iaitu sekitar 8,000-9,000 orang, hanya 9% mempunyai PhD atau setara. Begitulah angkanya. Jumlahnya masih kecil. Walaubagaimanapun, kalau kita hanya mengambil kira pensyarah di UiTM Shah Alam, jumlah ini akan meningkat sedikit, iaitu 22%. Manakala, buat masa sekarang hanya sebuah IPTA yang mempunyai 69% pensyarah yang memegang PhD, itulah angka tertinggi di Malaysia. Oleh itu, trendnya sekarang, UiTM banyak menghantar pensyarahnya belajar diperingkat pengajian PhD. InsyaAllah matlamat untuk meningkat bilangan pensyarah yang mempunyai PhD akan tercapai terutamanya di IPT Malaysia.

AlhamduLillah; syukur dengan limpah dan nikmat yang dikurnia oleh-Nya, kerana saya masih dapat bekerja dengan baik. AlhamduLillah kerana dah ramai rakan-rakan seangkatan tamat pengajian PhD. Saya mengambil peluang ini untuk mengucapkan tahniah kepada Dr. Mohd Bahrin Othman kerana menamatkan pengajian PhD dan dilantik sebagai Timbalan Dekan (HEP), Fakulti Undang-Undang, UiTM dan tahniah juga Dr. Zatul Karamah (UMS), kerana menamatkan pengajian pada tahun lepas. Tahniah juga kepada Encik Suhaidi Alias dan isteri kerana berjaya mendapat biasiswa PhD dan tempat pengajian di New Zealand. Juga kepada rakan yang sedang telah hampir menyiapkan thesis, terutamanya Kak Zarina Denan, Hairulnizam, dan Fahmi, saya mendoakan anda semua berjaya mengenggam PhD dalam tahun ini. Kak Zi (politeknik), Oswald, Ustaz Halim, Ustaz Saidin & Kak Ki, Shikin, Shahrul & isteri, Kak Noi, Khairul, Deb, Kak Suria, Kak Sha, Abg Johari, Raja Azreen, Hisham (TMSK)-jumpa di ITEX 2009 nanti!, Ina (FPP), Kak Hadaliza (FPP), Kak Rohana, Balkish, Kak Zaini dan Akmal Aini etc., teruskan perjuangan dan saya yakin anda dapat melakukannya, InsyaAllah. AlhamduLillah kerana ramai rakan-rakan di UiTM Johor yang dinaikkan pangkat, Kak Zah (Timbalan Pengarah Penyelidikan & JIM), Sham (koordinator penyelidikan) dan ada yang berjaya mendapat biasiswa PhD. AlhamduLillah, banyak betul nikmat yang Allah berikan kepada kita...syukur.

Management International Conference, Tunisia, November 25-28, 2009.

As General Chair, I would like to extend a cordial invitation for you to participate in the Management International Conference (MIC) in Sousse, Tunisia, November 25-28, 2009. The MIC 2009 is organized by the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management Koper, Slovenia, Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI University), and University of Sousse, Tunisia. Paper Submission:
This year all paper submissions (either abstract or full length paper) MUST be submitted online at the MIC website. Upload your paper or abstract to http://mic.fm-kp.si/2009 by April 30, 2009. All paper submissions will undergo a double-blind review process. Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 15, 2009.

Accepted papers are to be included in the MIC 2009 Conference Proceedings (ISSN: 1854-4312, ISBN: 961-6573-16-0) in CD form. Guidelines for the Proceedings are online at MIC website. Authors of selected full-length papers will be given the opportunity to revise their papers for inclusion in a future issue of the following nine sponsored journals:

Saya bersama rakan-rakan RMI berbengkel selama 2 hari di tempat yang menarik, Felda Residence Trolak, Sungkai. Perjalanan ke sana hanya 2 jam. Bila tiba di Felda Residence, saya dah mula teruja, sebab persekitarannya yang menarik terutamanya kepada sesiapa yang berminat dengan suasana "team-building camp". Bengkel ini dihadiri oleh Prof. Fauziah Nordin, Prof. Azni, Prof. Bakar, Prof. Nasir, Prof. Suhaimi, Prof. Khudzir dan beberapa rakan lain. Pada sebelah petang, saya mengambil peluang ke kolam untuk mengail ikan. Prof. Fauziah bawa 2 joran dan beberapa orang staf ILQAM ada juga membawa joran bersama mereka. Mengail seronok-seronok aje. Bagi yang tidak mengail, mereka ke Felda Hot Spring, iaitu 20 minit perjalanan dari Felda Residence. Kalau rasa nak berendam air panas bolehlah ke sana. Sengal-sengal badan boleh kurang tu. Persekitaran kolam air panas, dikatakan sangat tersusun dan menarik, dan hotel juga dibina di sana. Makanan kami di Felda Residance pula, okay dan fresh. Setiap kali makan tengahari, kami dijamu dengan ulam-ulam segar yang dipungut dari sekitar FELDA. Ada macam-macam color, dan bentuk. Memang sedap. Secara keseluruhan, saya berpuas hati dengan layanan yang diberikan di sana. Terima kasih dan tahniah kepada Prof. Pau dan staf ILQAM kerana berjaya mengendalikan bengkel ini.

Main Golf dan Tenis

Lama juga saya tak serius bersukan. Masa di UiTM Johor, saya boleh dikatakan amat senang melakukan aktiviti sukan, terutamanya bermain golf dan tenis. Bila ada tournament golf, saya dan rakan-rakan akan masuk bertanding. Berlatih bersungguh-sungguh di driving-range. Bukan apa, main golf ni perlu banyak practice. Kalau tidak, pukul aje bola terus masuk semak! Main golf tak semudah yang disangka. Kena banyak sabar dan fokus. Kadang-kala nak tergelak juga bila ada pemain yang 'mengamuk sakan' atas padang. Bila pukul bola tak bagus, mula pukul 'cangkul tanah dan maki hamun'. Emm...sememangnya main golf kena banyak bersabar. Masa itu kita boleh lihat 'kelakuan' sebenar orang tu. Kalau anda seorang yang pemarah, bermain golf merupakan satu tempat latihan untuk 'pengurusan marah'. Selain golf saya suka main tenis. Rakan-rakan seperti Encik Aziz (sekarang di UiTM Terengganu) dan Ustaz Zaluddin (TP UiTM Johor) merupakan ahli tetap persatuan tenis resident staf. Main seronok-seronok. Tapi ada sekali saya ajak student (bekas pemain negeri Kedah) main tenis. Fuh...letih betul dan saya kena muscle tear...Lepas tu terus berhenti main tenis selama 3 bulan lebih. Pakai tongkat...Semenjak itu, saya tak berapa aktif dalam golf dan tenis. Sambung belajar PhD, terus lupa 'apa itu' golf dan tenis. Hah...dua hari lepas saya beli 'reket' tenis baru. InsyaAllah nak start balik main tenis, dan golf di driving-range...

The Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS), Call for Papers

The Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS, ISSN 0887-4417) is the flagship journal of the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS www.iacis.org) published on a quarterly basis. The JCIS is a refereed publication containing articles related to information systems research including innovative and advanced technologies. The aim of JCIS is to provide academically robust papers, research, and critical reviews on the issues associated with computer information systems. It is designed to be read by academics, scholars, professionals, practitioners, and those seeking an update on current experience and future prospects in relation to contemporary computer information systems.

The JCIS interests are wide ranging, seeking contributions that build on established lines of research work as well as break new ground in computer information systems. High-quality research in computer information systems is welcome, including theoretical, analytical, and empirical studies in computer information systems. The JCIS editorial team is committed to providing subscribers with the best quality articles in a timely manner, ensuring a journal that subscribers will find stimulating and useful in their professional and teaching activities.

· The H-Index (based on Harzing’s Publish or Perish software) of the JCIS during 1998-2008 is 20. On average, cites per paper during 1999-2008 = 4.43.
· The JCIS was recently identified as an A* journal in Information Systems by the Excellence in Research in Australia (ERA, http://lamp.infosys.deakin.edu.au/era/?page=fordet&selfor=0806).
· The JCIS maintains a very rapid electronic submission, review and publication process. The turnaround time and quality of review comments ranks amongst the best in the field (average of 6-8 weeks from submission to a first decision).
· The JCIS acceptance rate is 12-13%. Over the past year, we have experienced a steady and impressive growth in submissions. In the past 12 months, the JCIS received more than 500 manuscripts.
· The JCIS editorial board numbers around 150 professional academics from around the globe, ranging from long established senior scholars to the next generation of leading edge researchers.

The JCIS guidelines www.iacis.org/jcis/jcis_guidelines.html must be followed when submitting a manuscript to be reviewed for publication in the JCIS. Manuscripts must be word processed and electronically submitted as a Word document attached to an e-mail to Editor-in-Chief at Binshan.Lin@LSUS.edu. Hard copy submission will not be accepted. The first page of the manuscript should contain only the following information: title, name and institutional affiliation of the author(s), address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address for each author. Manuscripts are first reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief. Those suitable for further review are forwarded to members of the JCIS Editorial Review Board. Contributors of articles accepted for publication will receive a complimentary copy of the issue in which their article appears.
