Bengkel Research di UiTM Negeri Johor

Saya dan Intan bertolak ke Segamat selepas habis kerja hari jumaat. Petang juga. Perjalanan ke Segamat kali ini berlainan sedikit. Apa dia? Kali ini kami pandu Bestari, Cevy kami tinggal untuk temankan rumah. Nak tengok macamana kemampuan kereta ni menghadapi jalan bengkang-bengkok tangkak. AlhamduLillah semuanya selamat. Kami diberikan bilik khas di salah sebuah hotel di Segamat. Keesokan harinya saya dan Intan ke UiTM Negeri Johor dan bertemu dengan rakan lama. Upacara dirasmikan oleh Pengarah UiTM Prof. Muhd Kamil. Lepas majlis rasmi, terus saya promote IID kepada semua peserta yang rata-ratanya bekas pelajar saya dan beberapa orang pensyarah CITU. Cakap fasal Syeikh Muzaffar la, dan macam-macam untuk naikkan semangat depa untuk joint IID. Itulah tugas saya di IRDC, macam menteri penerangan tak rasmi. AlhamduLillah, bagi saya semuanya berjalan lancar. Sessi kedua pula, diteruskan dengan penyampaian oleh Tokoh Maal Hijrah, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yusof Othman, UKM. Lepas tamat bengkel, saya balik ke hotel. Esoknya saya dan Intan, terus ke Kampung Jawa, nak pekena soto nasi dan tempe goreng. Dah kenyang, terus ke rumah ustaz saidin, bincang sedikit pasal IID 2008. Bila waktu dah suntuk, saya terus balik ke Shah Alam. Hajat nak singgah air terjun gunung ledang, tapi tak jadi, sebab mata dah mengantuk betui...InsyaAllah lain kali.

Dua tiga hari ni internet buat hal pula. Slow betul, terutamanya Yahoo. Saya cuba tunggu beberapa lama, masih slow. Nak tengok message pun masalah. Nasib baik boleh access utusan malaysia dan berita harian. Kalau tidak lagi boring. Kadang-kadang terfikir saya, streamix yang saya bayar tu berbaloi ke? Tak selalunya mengikuti apa yang ditawarkan dahulu. Saya pernah test kelajuan internet ni, sah tak sampai kelajuan yang ditawarkan. Saya rasa tak seronok kalau pengguna patut dapat service lagu ni. Dulu pernah satu taman di kawasan saya kena kejutan elektrik berlebihan. Habis semua peti ais, televisyen, penghawa dingin, semua barang elektrik yang terpasang atau tak dicabut dari plug, habis terbakar. Masa tu saya tengah guna laptop dan kipas. Terkejut saya bila nampak charger laptop saya berasap dan kipas tu turun naik kelajuannya. Lepas tu saya terus ke stor TNB. Ada beberapa orang di sana tengah dok sibuk buat kerja. Satu barisan taman saya mengadu, habis barangan elektrik depa, termasuk beberapa barangan elektrik saya. Kami buat aduan, biasala, jawapannya...apa jawapannya depa tak bersalah, so kami bersalah. Tak dapat pampasan. Kita pulak kena beli peti ais, televisyen, kipas, penghawa dingin baru, main ribu-ribu tu...begitulah...

Segar..Amat, sebenarnya begitulah asalnya nama segamat, terletak di Johor hanya 45 minit perjalanan dari bandar Ayer Keroh, Melaka melalui pekan kain/langsir/cadar terkenal (utk orang pompuan?) Tangkak. Kalau anda seorang kaki panjat bukit @ gunung, tempat ini sesuai sebab di sini terletaknya gunung famous-Gunung Ledang. Saya pernah tawan puncak Gunung Ledang, masa tu tingkatan 2. Lama dah. Kalau sekarang tentu pancit, dah tua. Badan dah 'lusuh'. AlhamduLillah, walaupun tak sehebat dulu, saya masih boleh bergerak ke sana ke mari. Kalau anda nak tahu, macam-macam benda ada kat atas gunung tu. Apa dia? Kalau nak tahu sila panjat dan cari apa dia, menarik. Ada sedikit clue-buaya putih, tapak kaki Hang Tuah...etc!
Saya dan Intan akan ke Segamat, InsyaAllah pada hari jumaat ni dan akan bermalam di sana. Keesokannya InsyaAllah ada bengkel research. Part saya hanya waktu pagi sampai tengahari. Plan kami nak bermalam lagi di Segamat. Nak tunggu sampai pagi ahad. Biasala, nak pekena soto kampung jawa. Lepas tu, InsyaAllah saya akan singgah di Bayu Beach Resort, Port Dickson, untuk present Invention competition anjuran CITU. Saya cuba pukul 11.00 pagi ustaz. Saya cuba ye! Terang saya kepada Ustaz Dr. Mujaini, Pengarah CITU tempoh hari. Intan hanya tersenyum aje, dan saya tahu dia teringin nak sangat pekene tempe dan soto kampung jawa...

Berjumpa dengan Tan Sri Muhyiddin

Saya bertolak awal ke UiTM. Bukan untuk rebut parking, tapi untuk ke IOI Merriot di Putrajaya. Naik bas, kena pi awal, kut takut tertinggal bas. Ada bengkel potensi pasaran eksport buah-buahan Malaysia di Eropah dan Asia. Saya naik bas bersama-sama pelajar dan pensyarah lain. Katanya bas akan bertolak tepat jam 7.30 pagi. Biasa la jam ARAB, bas hanya bergolek tayar pada pukul 8.00 pagi. Perjalanan ke hotel tu, tak lama sangat, hanya 30 minit aje. Sampai di sana, semua orang FAMA dah ramai, kot depa ni berkampung di sana. Pagi tu dah terhidang breakfast, so saya pun break le. Ada orang besar datang untuk rasmikan bengkel ni. Menteri Pertanian dan Asas Tani, Tan Sri Muhyiddin. Sempat juga saya bergambar semasa beliau tengah dok makan bersama VVIP lain. Yang menariknya bengkel ini dibentang oleh 3 orang aje. Depa ni penyelidik UKM, UiTM dan kaunselor pertanian di Belanda. AlhamduLillah semuanya okay. Paling seronok bila terserempak dengan saing lama di UIA dulu. Wan Asmadi, demo kenal ambo ko? Kenal...tapi tak kenal, macam pernah jumpa, tapi di mana ye? ....ala di UIA...10 tahun dahulu...sambung Wan Asmadi, Managing Director sebuah travel agent.

Prof. Kenneth P.Morse-MIT Entrepreneurship Center Director

Zaidi, wakilkan saya ke perjumpaan dengan Prof Kenneth P.Morse di Hotel Maya, Kuala Lumpur esok, 5.30 ptg. Begitulah permintaan Prof Azni. Saya bersetuju kerana ini peluang saya untuk berjumpa dengan 'orang-orang besar' universiti. Saya pergi awal, selepas solat jumaat. Bukannya apa, sebab saya tak berapa mahir dengan jalan di sekitar KL. Bila sampai di Jalan Ampang, saya dah jadi kelam-kabut sebab tak nampak menara Tabung Haji. Sepuluh tahun dulu, senang aje nampak tabung haji, tapi sekarang, tak nampak apa langsung! Terlindung dengan bangunan lain agaknya. Bila lama dah, saya tahu, jawapannya sesat. Bila sesat kena tanya. So, saya masuk ke stesen minyak, tanya kat sana. Abang patah balik dan terus jalan sampai nampak Hotel Maya. Saya pun terus lipat kereta, patah balik, jalan jam teruk. AlhamduLillah, saya sampai di Hotel Maya, seawal pukul 4 petang. Lepas dapat parking saya tinjau-tinjau kawasan hotel. Duduk sampai masuk Asar. Pukul 5.30 ptg saya dah berada di Ballroom 2 dan kelihatan beberapa orang Prof yang mewakili universiti masing-masing. Prof. Madya Dr. Noraini pun ada. Tak ramai yang hadir, hanya wakil UiTM, UMK, UNITAR, UPM dan UTP. Prof. Datuk Dr. Hassan, Ketua Pengarah, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi jadi chair hari ini. Perbincangan tak lama, cuma nak adakan collaboration dengan MIT bersama IPT Malaysia. Perbincangan tamat pukul 7.00 malam. Lepas dinner saya balik ke Shah Alam. Pengalaman yang manis buat saya yang junior ini...

Persidangan Meja Bulat

Semalam, saya, Dr. Hanafiah dan Dr. Rod, anggota tetap IRDC menjelajah ke Persidangan Meja Bulat Penyelidikan Negeri Selangor di Hotel Grand Blue Wave, Shah Alam anjuran Kerajaan Negeri Selangor, Institut Perkembangan Minda dan Fakulti Sains Pentadbiran & Pengajian Polisi, UiTM. Apa persidangan meja bulat tu---meja bulat?. Tak tau? seleroh Dr. Hanfiah. Kita tengok nanti. Pagi-pagi lagi saya dah bersedia bersama Dr. Hanafiah. Dr. Rod, sibuk dengan jam di Shah Alam, so dia mengekori kemudian. Masuk pintu hotel, ada seorang menyapa, "Pilihanraya?", tidak, kami nak ke seminar. Encik sila naik ke atas. perlahan jawab pekerja itu. Saya dan Dr. Hanafiah terus menuju ke bilik seminar. Dah ramai orang masa tu. Kami mencari tempat duduk. Sebelah kanan untuk bangsa akademik dan di satu bahagian untuk bangsa kakitangan kerajaan negeri. Sarapan pagi disediakan. Kami pun terus menjamu selera. Dr. Rod, masih tak kelihatan. Dr. Hanafiah, ala Dr. Rod, biasala lagu tu...Selang beberapa puluh minit, ketibaan Y.Bhg Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamad Khir bin Toyo, Dato' Menteri Besar Selangor. Lepas tu terus sesi perbentangan yang dimulakan oleh Prof. Dr. Haji Hazman Shah bin Abdullah (UiTM), Prof. Madya Hajah Rugayah Hashim (UiTM), Puan Marhaini Mohd Nor (UiTM), Prof. Dr. Syed Noh bin Syed Ahmad (UiTM), Prof. Dr. Jambari Ali (UPM), Prof. Dr. Lokman Shamsudin (UNISEL) dan Moohamad Ropaning (UNISEL). Semua pembentangan mengambil masa selama 10-15 minit aje. Lepas semua perbentangan selesai, Dato' Menteri Besar membuat ulasan selama 30 minit. Lepas tu, kami pun dijemput makan...oh..lagu tu ke persidangan meja bulat.

Internationalisation, begitulah tema UiTM bagi tahun 2008. Banyak perkara yang perlu kita lakukan bagi menaikkan nama UiTM diperingkat antarabangsa. Begitulah kata-kata Datuk Seri VC, pagi tadi sempena amanat beliau bagi tahun 2008. Untuk naikkan ranking universiti, semua kena ada brand international. Apa tu? Research perlu dibuat collaboration dengan orang luar, article perlu diterbitkan dalam international refereed journal, lagi bagus terbit dalam impact factor journal outlets, dan international students pun UiTM perlu ada. Kalau tak ada pelajar asing, markah kira zero. Tak berapa bagus. Patut la dalam dua tiga menjak ni, nampak ramai betul pelajar asing di UiTM. Dalam kelas saya ada seorang pelajar Afganistan. Dulu kita tak pernah tengok ramai pelajar luar. Kalau tak percaya, lihat waktu lepas solat jumaat. Ramai pelajar ni, dok berkumpul satu tempat. Pakat dok berpeluk sakan diantara satu sama lain. Ada juga pelajar Melayu yang cuba joint, walaupun dari tadi kita nampak dia mengangguk-angguk antara faham dan tidak faham sewaktu semua pak arab ni ketawa! Mungkin dia faham bahasa arab la tu, sikit-sikit. Semua bangsa ada kat UiTM, terutamanya bangsa arab saudi, yaman, libya, indonesia, bosnia and etc. Mungkin tak lama lagi UiTM dah jadi macam keadaan di MMU, UIA atau Lim Kok Weng. Lebih 60% aje foreign students. Bagus juga bila ada pelajar asing sebab kita akan cuba bersaing dengan mereka. Baru la perform. Bila teringatkan suasana di kampus UIA atau MMU, kita boleh berangan dok study kat overseas dalam summer. So, InsyaAllah semua akan internationalisation...baru dapat taraf RU nanti.

Apa Khabar Kawan-Kawan LAMA?

Apa khabar kawan-kawan lama? Ialah lama tu bermaksud, kawan-kawan masa sekolah rendah, sekolah menengah, masa bachelor, masa master, masa PhD, masa kursus, masa naik pangkat...Saya sebenarnya tengah dok himpun semula kawan-kawan lama ni, dan tentu dah depa ni semuanya berlainan sekarang. Dulu mungkin depa ni slim, kulit putih, rambut lebat, budak sekolah yang berhinggus, tapi sekarang dah jadi manager, pensyarah, engineer, rambut pun dah berkurang-beruban, badan boncit banyak dan sedikit, dah bersuami, beristeri, dah ada anak, ramai pula tu...sebab tulah saya suka nak cari benda-benda ni pada kawan-kawan lama. Nak tengok perubahan. Mungkin, kita dah tak kenal depa, maklumlah dah bergaya, tampan dan berjawatan tinggi. Mungkin di sekolah dulu, dia antara yang losers, dan dulu di sekolah dia hebat tapi sekarang...Dunia macam tu la. Banyak pancaroba. Harapan saya, kawan-kawan lama di sekolah rendah, menengah, bachelor, master, PhD, kursus dan seangkatan dengannya dapat berhubung antara satu sama lain...apa khabar kawan-kawan lama?

Bila ketagih

Sebut aje ketagih, mesti kita terbayang orang yang kurus kering sedang cucuk jarum kat diri sendiri, doktor tu. Tapi ketagih saya tak sama macam depa. Bila ketagih-menulis, saya akan terus gian menulis. Tulis buku, tulis artikel, tulis soalan, tulis atas whiteboard termasuk tulis proposal, etc. Nak melepaskan ketagih ni, bukannya senang, sebab masa ada, tapi kita buat-buat masa tak ada. Kebetulan, bilik saya di fakulti masih 'kurang' ada, so, nak menulis dengan kusyuk kadangkala melalui jalan paling buntu. Tapi, AlhamduLillah, baru ni, sempat juga saya tulis dua-tiga artikel untuk dihantar ke ISI-ranked jurnals, dan international conference. Ada beberapa manukrip tak siap dalam perkiraan untuk dihantar ke UPENA. InsyaAllah saya akan cuba siapkan dalam tahun ini. Menulis ini kena ada perasaan sabar, dan enjoy. Matlamat menulis juga kena betul. Bukannya untuk jadi ikan gelama (glamour), kaya atau riak, tapi untuk mengembangkan dan berkongsi ilmu dengan yang lain. Mungkin dengan sedikit ilmu yang kita ada, dapat membantu orang lain. So, bila ketagih, sila menulis...

Bukan Geneva ye, hanya BIID

Tadi selepas berbincang panjang dengan Dekan dan Timbalan Dekan, kami memutuskan untuk adakan BIID. Apa tu? Business Inventions, Innovations & Designs Competition, macam IID tu, tapi peringkat Fakulti Business Management aje. Penyertaan terbuka pada pelajar dan pensyarah. So, sekarang ni, pensyarah dan pelajar dah ada dua peluang untuk bertanding. Satu, di IID (peringkat UiTM), manakala di BIID (peringkat FBM). Kenapa nak buat banyak-banyak pertandingan ni? Ala bukan apa, untuk naikkan semangat pensyarah dan pelajar untuk banyak buat research dan bertanding, dapat pingat. Kan ke best tu. So, pelajar tak la boring, duduk dalam kelas. Sekarang ni depa boleh jadi kreatif, masuk banyak pertandingan inovasi. Itulah matlamat UiTM, World Modern Innovative Research University.

IID Sudah Mari!

Apa dia IID? Jangan risau atau bimbang sebab IID bukan boleh makan anda, atau dimakan anda. IID hanya pertandingan rekacipta, Inventions, Innovations and Designs yang membariskan banyak produk penyelidikan UiTM. InsyaAllah, IID akan diadakan bermula 25-27 Mac 2008 bertempat di Dewan Annexe dan Dewan Sri Budiman. Kali ini IID perlu dibayar iaitu RM50 bagi staff manakala RM25 bagi pelajar. Tarikh tutup 15 Februari 2008. BAYARAN PERLU DIBUAT DENGAN CARA PO/MO/CHEQUE KE ATAS NAMA BENDAHARI UITM. Tempat terhad, sapa cepat dia dapat. Borang penyertaan boleh didapati dengan melayari portal http://www.irdc.uitm.edu.my/. Kalau tak faham macamana nak bertanding, or nak tahu kategori pertandingan, sila ke portal yang maksudkan di atas. Kalau tak susah nanti, sebab takut masuk salah kategori ke, atau salah masuk pertandingan. Kalau nak merasa melawat Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Germany, Korea, Russia, UK dan Malaysia, sila masuk dan bertanding di IID tahun ini. Kalau tidak, menyesal, sebab nanti kita kempunan, dapat tengok kawan-kawan kita main ski dan makan buah epal fresh! Rebutlah peluang ini. Hah tu dia, IID sudah mari!

Siapa minat tengok cerita Korea

Lawatan ke Korea, telah membawa saya ke istana lama mereka. Di Seoul saja ada berpuluhan buah istana lama, tidak berpenghuni, sebab raja Korea telah dibunuh oleh orang Jepun. Kalau nak tahu, istana ini masih berfungsi-hanya sebagai tempat pengambaran. Ala, cerita Korea yang selalu tayang di Malaysia tu. Heh, tak termasuk Winter Sonata sebab cerita cinta ni depa buat kat pulau. Kalau cerita yang ada main pedang-pedang dengan pakai topi koboi tu, memang sah banyak depa buat filem di istana sekitar bandar Seoul. Pakaian depa pun macam zaman dulu-kala. Misai panjang, bulu kening panjang, dan gigi bersih. Kalau diikutkan, seram juga tengok istana ni sebab, tak ada orang langsung. Kalau berani tinggal sehari semalam, macam cerita seekers tu. Boleh kena rasuk nanti. Buatan istana ni cantik, menarik, dan asli. Kayu istana masih teguh dan biasanya kayu ni disapu dengan cat yang terang-warna merah, hijau dan kuning. Tak tahu kenapa tak bubuh color biru laut dan electric blue. So, siapa minat nak tengok cerita Korea, yang ada main pedang-pedang dan ada topi cowboy, sila datang ke Seoul, boleh tengok tempat kat mana depa buat filem.

Oscar tipu-tipu

Semasa di Beverly Hills, LA, saya dan Intan melilau cari barang-barang keperluan yang ditempah khas dari Malaysia. Barang-barang keperluan ini termasuk, T-Shirt, Key-Chain, PostCard, dan etc. Intan, tengok ni...Academy Oscar! Apa? tanya Intan. Ala...patung emas yang tak cukup baju tu. Yang bestnya, oscar tu tipu-tipu. Semua pemenang ada. Pemenang ayah terbaik, ibu terbaik, kakak terbaik, adik terbaik, abang terbaik, cikgu terbaik...dan semuanya. Nak beli ke? Hah...tak boleh, sebab patung. So, tak jadi beli. Belek punya belek, saya beli T-Shirt 5 pasang, key-chain sedikit untuk juadah di Malaysia nanti. Boleh dikatakan semua kedai menjual benda yang sama, T-Shirt, PostCard, Key-Chain dan Oscar tipu-tipu...
